| This is a picturesque walk along the Eastern Suburbs shoreline. We start our walk from Clovelly bay via Bronte, Tamarama and Mackenzies Pt., finishing at Bondi. The paved path almost the whole way along takes you to breathtaking views of the Tasman Sea and Eastern suburbs and surrounding rocks and cliffs. You can have a swim at any beach or in a rock pools on the way. Part of the way is through picturesque Bronte cemetery. |

Now, almost 8 years have passed since I walked the shoreline last. I stayed exactly one year in Sydney for working-holiday and such fantastic beaches were my best place to take a rest during my sydney life. I loved to walk along the shoreline very much.
Besides the beaches, in particular I still remember the "cemetery" (Actually, I didn`t know the name of the cemetery at that time but I got to know it through this website, Bronte cemetery). The image of the cemetery was quite strong to me because I could see the time and life which would last forever.
In the cemetery, I saw a stone said "Our lovey daughter Jessica, 1900 - 1901".
Cemeteries do not always keep everything dead and quiet, but show love and time are never limited.
I named it "the world most beautiful cemetery".
Are you unhappy? or Did you fail any exam?
NO worries, mate!
Come and see the great sea and beaches. They will make you feel better and the cemetery may talk to you "Hey man, anyhow, the life still deserves to live, doesn`t it?
After another 8 years, can I see the sea and walk the shoreline again? I am looking forward to the day.

Wow...a whole message board devoted to this wonderful place! I had the good fortune of visiting Sydney for a couple weeks in the Fall (your Spring!) of 2003. I spent many an afternoon at various spots along the shore here, couldn`t believe how beautiful it was. I even have fond memories of the train and bus connections it took me to get there. I took this walk one fair afternoon, and it is one of the highlights of my trip! I started in Bondi, but didn`t make it all the way to Clovelly. I shot a whole roll of film during my walk, fascinated by the composition of the rocks, and the way the city seemed to blend so beautifully with the nature of the place. Such incredibly clear blue water! One afternoon I took goggles and went down among the rocks to check out the tidal pools. I sent this link to a friend here in U.S. to share my impressions, and he said it looked mythic. But these pictures are exactly the way I remember it. I dearly hope to return to complete the leg of the walk I didn`t make the last time I was there (anyone need a house-sitter?) Thanks for this great reminder...so it wasnt` a dream! |
