| This very unusually shaped unique little beach in the Eastern suburbs stretches deeply inwards the shoreline. This makes a very calm and shallow lagoon, suitable for swimming with little children. If this is too rough, then there is a pool in the cemented pavement alongside. Heading into the sea you will find scenic rocks and deeper waters for more serious swimmers. A great advantage of any public place large parking area makes it one of our favorite destinations for a day out or a party. Also a popular fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving place. |

To lay under the trees in the shadow, take a walk along the water, go for a swim, chat whit some nice people, sit on the cliffs and watch the dolphins playing in the water or just admire the sunset in the evenings. That is what I loved about Clovelly when I visited Australia for the first time during Christmas.IŽll be back! |

Clovelly may look like a submarine base but it the best swimming and snorkelling in the Sydney metro area. I am not a big fan of lying around on the sand, with Clovelly, you arrive, go straight in for a swim and play with the fish, once you have had enough , its so easy to just leave. I saw a 1.5 metre long groper on Sunday (4.1.09), a stingray and a big school of bream. I can`t say how bad the cafe is, i only ever go in Winter when there is less customers and the service and coffee has always been good. The free carpark is really a Sydney anomoly, everywhere else its pay through the nose and heavily policed if you are feeling like a parking fine. |

The water is so deep and so full of both small and very large fish, that snorkelling is a must. |

HI I am an Australian who now lives in Christchurch New Zealand and i have been here since 1994. Back in 1941 when i was born
the 2nd world war was at full bore. and the USA troops helped to build the Promenade either side of the bay, the bay was closed off with barb wire at the entrance to stop any Japanesn navy getting into the bay.
i lived at 145 Boundry Street Clovelly and it was a grand old home but that was pulled down and the worst block of flats put up.
in my younger years in just 5 houses ours and Ocean street there were 40 kids to play with . we had a family of 7. 6 girls and 1 male, we all swam every day of our young lives. Clovelly Bay was our play ground.we did not have a bus that went past our door we had to walk down to the bay on the other side to catch the Tram or walk over to Bronte. and it was nothing for us to walk to Watsons Bay for a Sunday walk all the kids and the Mums the whole 4 of them. If you would like to know More please just email me i would love to hear from you.
take care |

Clovelly is a hidden treasure and the people there are so friendly. I can`t agree with a previous writer about Seasalt Cafe, I had a wonderful meal and the staff were so happy and efficent, 9 out of 10 for me!
