Aboriginal art
Australian Aboriginal art has not been discovered until relatively recent time, when it became recognized and collectible in the world. The roots of Aboriginal art are in the notion of Dreaming, which is a complex concept encompassing Aboriginal ancestors’ spirit describing the creation and existence of the Nature. An Aboriginal artist would only depict a certain part of the Dreaming’s in the rituals and art – the part that relates to the particular artist. True Aboriginal artist doesn’t create art – he merely presents visual images of Dreaming for others to see. A work of Aboriginal art therefore becomes a powerful artifact.
Most of the Aboriginal art paintings relate to certain features of the physical world. When depicting land, the patterns, lines and dots often represent certain plants and landscape features such as mountains and waterholes.
